Thought for the day: Chaos Is a Ladder

Are members of your government actively working to make it dysfunctional?  Here's a quote that applies ...

Some people say the members of Congress who are trying to throw the government into chaos are stupid. While I think Charles Pierce makes some good points in the linked article, he's too kind. No, they're not stupid. They're just cynical and greedy. They are determined to bring about chaos, because they plan to climb that ladder.

Part of their effort is a disinformation campaign.  Cynical politicians label things the better to whip up hate and to keep the public misinformed.  And that's why a certain section of the media never talks about the Affordable Care Act, they only talk about "Obamacare." And that led to this very revealing segment on Jimmy Kimmel ...

It's a hilarious video, right?  These people aren't stupid.  They just tune in to FOX News for their daily 3-minute dose of hate, and that's all the news they get all day. Of course they're misinformed.

On the plus side, hey parents! The government shut-down means you no longer have to wear pants.

Okay, I was kidding there. Here's the real deal: The government may be going to hell in a handcart. And you can't do anything about that. But there are many, many ways to profit from this. And you CAN do something about that.

And if your government is becoming more dysfunctional, you're going to need the money.

I'll have more on those opportunities another time.  For now, good luck and good trades. I'll be away from the markets today, helping build a house for Habitat for Humanity. I look forward to a great day. I hope you have one, too.
